So wonder no more! Here’s our pick of the top 5 Malaysia restaurants to satisfy your mamak cravings.
When it comes to traditional Halal Malay food, it doesn’t get any more authentic than Ikhwan Cafe.
This cafe serves daily mouthwatering Malay food, ranging from rendangs, sambals, and ayam pangang. Keep a lookout for their daily specials from $15 dollars a set.
Like a true kind-hearted Malaysian Muslim, the owners at Ikhwan Cafe have a “Pay as you wish” buffet every Friday, with a variety of rice, side dishes, desserts and drinks.
Oh and did we mention that their nasi lemak is one of the best in Perth?
2. Syiok Kopitiam
Located in Wanneroo Market, Syiok Kopitiam is reminiscent of a true fuss-free mamak style kopitiam.
Known for its cuisines such as varuval chicken, curry squid and curry chicken, this place is a must go for Malaysian-Indian food.
If you’re in luck, you might catch them on their banana leaf bonanza, where you can have a true banana leaf treat!
3. Riverton Hawker
Known for their best Wan Tan Mee and Char Siew in Perth, this place is all about fuss free Malaysian-Chinese cuisine.
The restaurant also serves popular Malaysian cuisines such as chicken rice, curry laksa, and prawn noodles. Occasionally, the restaurant will serve specials such as Hakka Yong Tau Foo! Definitely yummy!
4. Penang Hawker Food
Another yummy place which doesn’t break the bank! Known for their Char Kueh Teow, this place serves up some of the best Penang food in Perth.
Be sure to try their Penang Asam Laksa, as it is definitely a must have when you visit the restaurant. They also serve plenty other cuisines such as Hokkien Char, Kung Pao Chicken, and Hor Fun
5. Little Nyonya Kitchen Perth
Currently the only Peranakan restaurant in Perth, Little Nonya Kitchen is defintiely a must try for us! This humble restaurant serves authentic Straits Chinese (Peranakan) family cuisine, plus plenty other Malaysian popular food.
Set meal starts form $11.90 with a good serving of food. You can get amazing food such as Chicken Pongteh and Curry Debel. Be sure to also try their variety of Nonya Kuih while you’re at it!
