Spending More Time in Perth? Here Are the Must-Visit Places in WA

Sometimes, we just need a longer holiday.

With the world’s borders finally opening up, there’s no better time to go for an extended trip.

And what better place to do it than Perth?

While many tourists come to Perth, there are plenty of other places around Western Australia waiting to be explored. From gorgeous wineries, picturesque beaches, and quaint towns, here are some of our top picks for the best places to visit in Western Australia when you have a little more time!

Margaret River

The Margaret River region is one of our favourite places in Western Australia. It’s around a four-hour drive away south of Perth, and it’s filled with exceptional vineyards, breweries, and farm stays.

If you’re in the area, you should definitely check out Pierro Winery for some good wine and Beerfarm for a family-friendly pub grub. We also love going to Gracetown Beach for a family-friendly swim.

Exmouth

Exmouth is a holiday that sticks with you long after you’ve left the place.

This scenic location is a 2-hour flight from Perth airport, but you can also drive 12 hours to Exmouth. It’s filled with beach activities such as whale watching, snorkelling, and swimming with the whale sharks. So if you’re looking for a beach holiday, then Exmouth is the place to go.

But it’s more than just the beaches that make Exmouth stunning. This quaint little town offers visitors a respite away from the city’s hustle. One can’t help but feel simple joys in this small town.

Exmouth is pretty warm throughout the year so it’s suitable to visit all year round! Be sure to check out Turquoise Bay for its insanely blue waters.

Broome

Broome is a coastal town not to be missed in Western Australia. It’s 2 hour and 30-minute flight away from Perth, but it’s well worth it! Some of the most popular things to do in Broome are going for a camel ride, a dolphin tour, and visiting a pearl farm tour.

If going out to the beach and having an adventure is your thing, the best time to visit Broome is from April/May to September/October. The wet season starts in November, which means there will be more rainfall at that time!

Esperance

Home to the ever-popular Lake Hillier, Esperance is another beautiful place worth visiting in Western Australia. The flight to Esperance is around 1 and a half hours, and you’ll be greeted by long stretches of pure white sand.

Truly, it’s a sight to behold.

The town has many iconic beaches, such as Lucky Bay and Twilight Bay, so a scenic beach holiday is undoubtedly guaranteed. However, there are also many walking, hiking, and fishing experiences available too.

There are many things to see and do in Perth, but if you’re coming in for an extended period of time, we’d certainly recommend checking out these famous places in Western Australia for an unforgettable trip.
