Caversham Wildlife Park – An Exciting Family Outing

Perth is such a family-friendly city, with so many fun things you can do with your family if you’re visiting!

If you’re looking for a fun outing that’s good value for money, we’d highly recommend visiting Caversham Wildlife Park. Located around 40 minutes from Perth City, this wildlife park is home to a sizeable native animal species in Western Australia.

You’ll have to pay an admission fee before you enter the park, which is $32 for adults and $14.00 for children (3 to 14 years old). The admission fee gives you access to all their daily attraction shows, animal feed, and a photo with the koalas! More on that later.

We recommend you arrive early and see their daily attractions. The park has shows from 10.30am onwards, which were a joy to watch! We especially loved the animal farm show – an interactive show-and-tell that educates children on life at a farm.

The wildlife park is huge, and you can easily spend a whole day in it. So if you’re planning to visit, it’s best to set aside a reasonable amount of time for your trip.

The park also sells food for hungry visitors, but there’s also a picnic area where you can bring your own food to share. We found plenty of space to sit and have our lunch, and it was a public holiday! Big plus there!

There is a kangaroo walkthrough in which little ones can interact with kangaroos and feed them. The kangaroos are pretty relaxed, but caution is always advised! Plenty of pallets are provided around the area as feeds, and the whole space is filled with kangaroos, joeys, and birds. Children would love them.

The highlight of the trip, however, was the koalas.

There were so many koalas in the park, and we were allowed to take pictures at certain times during the day for free! Each family gets one picture with a koala, which will be taken by a ranger on site. We advise you to get to the koala section early, as the queue got long pretty quick!

There were so many animals to see, and after a long day (and a lot of walking!), we found ourselves visiting the Wombat and friends – an enclosed area where you get to see more exciting species of birds and reptiles and take a picture with a wombat (for a fee).

Caversham Wildlife Park is undoubtedly a must-visit if you are travelling with kids. We found the place to be highly kid-friendly, and you’re guaranteed a great time with the family.

Caversham Wildlife Park opens from 9.30am to 4.00pm every day of the year (except Christmas Day).
