It’s officially summer here in Perth, and things are heating up!
Summer is definitely one of the busiest times to visit Perth, and for a good reason! The weather is warm and nice, which brings up many fun-filled activities for couples, families, and solo travelers.
So if you’re looking for something to do in town that’s not tour busses (or any other touristy things for that matter) then read on! Here are some of our favourite things to do at Perth during summer as locals.
Before we begin, just an important note though! Perth’s summer weather can go up to 45 degrees, so if you want to have an enjoyable day out during summer, take a cap or any form of sunshade during your day, as it keeps the heat away.
Also, be sure to stay hydrated and apply lots of sunscreens, you’ll thank us for it later. 😉
Now onward to the best things to do!
Beach.Days.

There are just so many things you can do on the beach. Like swimming, snorkelling, picnics, and playing beach sports. The list goes on and on.
So if you’re spending summer in Perth, be sure to check out some of our best beaches and enjoy a wonderful day! A tip from us would be to go early in the morning to enjoy the cooler temperatures, and parking spots.
Visit Rottnest Island
Rottnest Island is one of our favourite places to go, and when it’s only a 30-minute ferry ride away, we think everyone should see it at least once!
Some of the things we love doing is renting a bicycle and cycling from one swim spot to another. The water is incredibly blue and picturesque – guaranteeing you the best insta-worthy shot.
Of course, who can resist a selfie with a quokka?
Visitors can choose to stay there or make it a one-day trip, but the island does get pretty packed during summer – so book your accommodation early if you want to stay.
Visit Kings Park
While it may not be a particularly ‘exciting’ activity for those who love an always-on holiday, there’s beauty in sitting down at a park with your nearest and dearest.
Kings Park has one of the best views in Perth, and it is absolutely well-maintained and gorgeous. The 400 hectare park is also home to over 3000 flora species – making it a good spot for pictures (and proposals)!
We love packing a picnic with some of our favourite wines and just setting it up at the park. If you have little children, they will love the ample space for running around.
Again, this is one place you’d want to go early to secure a shady spot under a tree.
See Perth’s Markets

Perth is great for it’s summer markets with great food, fresh produce, and local offerings. If you’re looking for an evening market, then we’d certainly recommend visiting the Twilight Hawker Market in Perth City, with its different cousine from all around the world.
If it’s a morning market you’re after, then be sure to visit the Summer X Salt Markets at Trigg, where they even have a morning yoga, pilates, and meditation session before you gobble down the yummy market food!
Go to an Outdoor Cinema
If you’re in town, then don’t give this one a miss. We love going to Moonlight Cinemas, where they play both recent and classic movies. You can also rent a bean bag and bring your own food to the cinema.
Some nights in Perth can be chilly, so be prepared with a blanket and jacket and snuggle in while you watch!
There you have it! These are just some of our favourite things to do in Perth! If you’re looking for an accommodation during the summer, be sure to check out our homestays and send us a DM on Facebook for booking enquiries!
