Thanks to the Western Australian Government initiative, we were lucky to get free tickets to visit Perth’s Zoo.
Perth Zoo is open every day from 9:00am until 5:00pm, including all public holidays. It is a highly popular spot among the locals, especially those with children.
Here is the ticket pricing as of 2nd Jan 2025.

The Zoo is an amazing place where we get to see animals such as red pandas, lions, turtles, giraffes, and its resident tiger and elephant.
A full list of the animals can be found on the Perth Zoo website.
Getting to the zoo is highly accessible via public transport. Upon entry, you’ll receive a map of the area with all animal enclosures along with their keeper talks.

These talks are free and delivered by the animals’ caretakers with some feeding in action. We especially loved the Penguin Talk and Feed, as the animals were really interactive (and especially hungry!)

For something extra special, you can sign up for the zoo’s ‘Close Encounters’, where you can get up close and personal with animals such as lions, tigers, and orangutans. These sessions can be booked on the day or pre-booked on their website.
Overall, Perth Zoo is a place with an amazing selection of animals. We spent around 6 hours in the Zoo and had a heavy brunch before entering, as the food choices were quite limited. Visitors are also allowed to bring their own food and drinks into the zoo, except for alcohol.
For parents with children, the zoo has a big playground with surrounding amenities like toilets, water station, and food.

Here are some of the awesome snaps we had of the animals.

So if you’re looking for a fun full-day activity to do in Perth, we highly recommend visiting the Perth Zoo. You’ll not be disappointed!
