Top Autumn Things to Do in Perth: Our Best Picks!

Autumn is here in Perth! For those who may not know, March to May is the autumn season here in Australia, and it’s a period of cooler mornings and nights.

We think the cooler temperatures invite some of the best times to do outdoorsy things (and Perth is known for them!). So, in no particular order, here are some of our picks for the best things to do in Perth during autumn.

Outdoor Cinema

Outdoor cinemas are so versatile, as they can make for a cute date night or a fun outing with the family. Our top picks for outdoor cinemas are the Telethon Community Cinemas or the Moonlight Cinemas, which are both located in Perth metro locations.

So consider checking out their movie listings for what’s screening, get a ticket, and sit back and relax for a nice movie day.

Picnic in Kings Park

Kings Park is one of the best places for a picnic. With the weather officially cooling down, lunchtime temperatures are, on average, around the mid-20s. It’s a perfect time to pack a picnic and enjoy the scenic views of Elizabeth Quay.

Walks. Walks. Walks.

From coastal walks to bushlands and parks, Perth is filled with scenic walks. Our particular favourite is the coastal route along West Coast Drive and the Star Swamp Bushland. Be sure to check the weather forecast for any strong winds or rains before your walking plans!

Visit a Local Brewery

If you’re a lover of good beer and good food! Why not head on to a local brewery and enjoy a local pint? The cool weather is a perfect time to catch up with family and friends while the little ones enjoy playing on the grounds.

Our top picks are Bailey Brewery in Swan Valley, Little Creatures in Fremantle, and the latest Froth Craft Brewery in North Beach.

Visit Perth Hills

With only 45 minutes away from the city, Perth Hills is a picturesque escape with plenty of things to do and see. Our top pick in autumn is a visit to Raeburn Orchards, where you can see the best falling leaves and take plenty of insta-worthy shots.

While you’re there, don’t forget to stop by the wine region of Perth Hills and the amazing Araluen Botanic Gardens.

Whale Watching

For those wanting to splurge on an unforgettable experience, whale watching should be the thing to do this autumn. For around $300m, Whale Watch Western Australia offers a Perth Canyon Blue Whale Watching tour, which is the only place in Australia where you can view Blue Whales feeding.

In short, autumn is certainly an underrated time to be spending in Perth. With the cooler weathers ahead, there’s no better place to be in outdoor exploration.
